Legit Theatre Co. and KXT

Thanks to Danny Ball and Hugo Kohne who launched this initiative back in 2017. It quickly became an essential booking in the KXT calendar, with full houses, big casts, strange plays and new work. We’ve programmed plays from their season, welcomed in directors, launched companies, and met new actors. And along the way Danny and Hugo built up a cool little KX community.

Annie Stafford and Mat Lee have launched LEGIT THEATRE CO and picked things up. Version 2.0 is looking good.

In 2019 you can head into the Dive Bar Artists Hangout Sunday arvo, pick up a happy hour drink and take in some of the most exciting plays done by some excellent sorts. If you're interested in being apart of a KXTeethCutting reading, come along and register your interest, network, socialise and watch some beautiful people work. email us at legittheatreco@gmail.com with any questions or inquiries.

What’s next? Head on over to Legit theatre co to keep up to date on all the news

NORM'S by Alex Lee-Rekers

Late night at Norm's: a roadside cafe so beaten by years of traffic and not-traffic its era is impossible to determine. The decor is faded lino and vinyl and cool, desert air circulates through a pedestal fan that clangs against the jukebox with every oscillation. Waitress Karen dreams about Venice while her one regular, Cal, sips his beer and listens to her speak. In a nearby booth, young couple Bea and Sam are snuggled together, fast asleep. And outside--somewhere between the parking lot lamps and the black of the highway--two figures prepare to deliver life-altering news to those inside...

Blue Heart by Caryl Churchill

sunday 15 OCTOBER 2017

blue heart.jpg

Directed by Benjamin Sheen

With: Enya Daly, Nic English, Vaishnavi Suryaprakash, Kyle Kaczmarczyk, Eliza Scott, Laura Charlotte, Kate Cheel and Emma Kew.

Heart’s Desire: Brian and his wife Alice, together with Brian's sister Maisie, are waiting for the arrival of their daughter Susy, who is returning home after some years spent in Australia. A simple domestic scenario is replayed over and over with widely differing developments – some heartbreaking, some wildly comical or surreal.

Blue Kettle: a middle-aged man, Derek, and his girlfriend, Enid, are involved in a con trick, making a series of elderly women believe that Derek is the son they once gave up for adoption. But as the situation develops, the play's dialogue undergoes a radical distortion with characters using the words 'blue' and 'kettle', apparently at random, and to an extent that grows increasingly disruptive.
