After 7 years in the heart of Kings Cross KXT has moved

ANNOUNCING

KXT on BROADWAY

Sandwiched into the middle of a 6-story nightclub, between bars and dance floors, KXT at KX Hotel was a wild experiment in space sharing that shouldn’t have worked but somehow did. In 2022 the hotel is undergoing extensive renovations with a focus on live music, and will no longer house a theatre.

Now the team that made this possible are inviting you to join them in the heart of the city.

181 BROADWAY - ULTIMO

We’re on the corner of Mountain St and Broadway, a walk from Central Station, with buses at the door, handy free parking up the road, and Spice Alley around the corner.

KXT on Broadway has allowed us to build a theatre that meets the needs of artists and audience. We’ve hung onto all the things you love about KXT: the traverse layout, intimate seating, funky foyer, art gallery, even the old wooden chairs. But we’re adding in high ceilings and new infrastructure, level access, and a purpose built box office. Our new home has allowed us to expand our change rooms, and to provide increased and improved kitchen and foyer facilities. There might even be seat cushions…

The building is a local heritage site, an old sandstone bank dating from 1890 with high ceilings and arched windows.. And we’ve also taking over the downstairs level - the old bank Vault – and transformed it into a home for year-round artist support programs, community engagement, and showcases.

In an area surrounded by universities and student accommodation, neighbouring Newtown, Glebe, Chippendale, Pyrmont and Haymarket, and with a funky foyer, breezy bar and youthful programming, KXT on Broadway aims to continue to provide cool culture for 18 - 30 year olds.

We’ll continue to deliver our trade mark high risk programming, showcasing young and emerging artists working alongside experienced professionals; featuring new Australian writing and uniquely local stories; prioritising inclusive and representative work; and connecting with community through story telling.

Our warmest thanks for your support of independent theatre, and the work of bAKEHOUSE at KXT
